It’s official, after over a decade of making animal rag quilts, I have created my very own pattern!!!

I am so excited to share my animal rag quilt patterns with you and I promise this page will continue to be updated with more as I make them.

First off: I started by creating the classics, a Cat Rag Quilt and a Dog Rag Quilt!

My inspiration was from the popular Japanese stuffies that tend to have cute faces and rarely have mouths. So felt that the cat didn’t need a mouth, but I did give the dog a mouth as it made it clearer what if was.

And a happy surprise was that I have just enough seams to make it an adorable rag quilt, but in actuality there are not a lot of seams, so this saves your home dryer from all the fibers a rag quilt can create, as well as your hand from all that snipping. I think it is the PERFECT amount of seams!

How to create your own Animal Rag Quilt:
- Find my animal rag quilt pattern in MY PATTERN SHOP
- HOW TO PRINT AND ASSEMBLE A PDF SEWING PATTERN TUTORIAL
- CAT & DOG RAG QUILT VIDEO TUTORIAL (full step by step video tutorial)
- HOW TO WASH A RAG QUILT TUTORIAL (I also add color catchers which I don’t mention in that video)

Rag Quilt Sewing Tools I recommend:
- Walking Foot (make sure you get the one that attaches to your sewing machine)
- Sewing Measuring Gauge
- Marking Pen (I use a chalk one, or a water soluble one)
- Rag Quilt Snips (these are my all time favorite ones!!! Highly recommend!)
- Color Catchers (I use at least 3 at a time in the wash)
- Depilling Tool (I used to use cheap razors but have upgraded to this AMAZING depiller)

I hope you enjoy making these adorable animal rag quilts as much as I do!
